We recently purchased "The Prayer Shawl Companion" to learn more about this phenomenon. What a beautiful book! The sentiments are very inspiring and touching. It is non-denominational and all-inclusive. As a result of our reading, we have set aside our Thursday afternoon "Unwind and Knit" from 4:00pm-6:00pm as our "Prayer Shawl Gathering". We welcome everyone who would like to share in this healing and "other-oriented" project.
We have been given many, many skeins of yarn by a friend who can no longer knit. She would like to see it used for a special purpose. We have decided to make it available to anyone who would like to make a Prayer Shawl but feels the cost of the yarn is a barrier.
We will donate our prayer shawls to Starting Point, our local women's shelter, but you can make your shawl for anyone! People make prayer shawls to welcome a new baby into the family, give to a teenager as they head off to college, or are struggling with dis-ease, change or transformation in all its manifestations.
