Counted Cross-Stitch
With Cheryl
Saturdays afternoons from 2-4pm (no class May 11th)
There was a great response to Cheryl’s Counted Cross-Stitch class! This class is constructed so that each stitcher will work at their own level and on their own projects. If you have a project you have started, bring it! If you are a beginner, we will have basic supplies: DMC Floss, needles, fabric in 14 & 18 count in off white, and simple spring tension hoops. So just bring yourself if you would like to give it a try.
Mindful Knitting Research Project
With Wayne Cunningham, PhD
Wednesday May 15th-June 5th from 6-8pm
Wayne will be studying the effects of Mindful Knitting through pre & post surveys, experiences participants observe while knitting mindfully & other "objective data". The requirements are clear and easy to follow.
This study will begin Wednesday May 15, 2013 and will last for four weeks; those interested in participating will need to be able to engage in the practice of knitting for at least 20 minutes, three to seven times per week, without much effort, and have access to a computer with Microsoft Word for sending emails with attachments. Participants in the study will need to participate in a two hour meeting each Wednesday for four weeks and spend 30 minutes 3-7 days/week engaged in the activities of the study. A skein of Cascade 220 worsted weight yarn will be provided; participants will need to bring needles and notions needed to complete a project. The completed projects will be donated to the Maine Mitten Project or a local homeless shelter. Those interested call the shop or notify the researcher by email: waynecunningham@roadrunner.com for further details.
This is an exciting opportunity that we hope many will be interested in!

Toe-Up Socks
With Cheryl/Zoe
Fridays May 3rd – 24th from 2-4pm
This is a great opportunity to learn how to knit socks from a different perspective! The advantages of knitting in this direction are: you can fit them exactly to foot size, it’s easier to correct leg cuff width, and you don’t have to do the kitchener stitch!
For this class you will need:
~ Pattern (Cheryl’s available here)
~ 1 skein of sock yarn
~ Needles needed to obtain gauge

Close Knit Critters
With Everyone!
We are going to continue to make blankets for the cats & dogs at the Conway Humane Society! On Saturday May 4th & May 18th we will meet from 3:30-5:30 to knit or crochet squares & to crochet them together. We will have patterns to use with our washable worsted-weights yarns (use your own yarn or we will have lots of donated yarn available to use). So, please come and show the rescued cats & dogs just how much we care about them being warm and lovingly cared for.

Ruched Yoke Summer Tee
With Kathy Cooper
Mondays May 20th – June 10th from 6-8pm
Class fee $50.00 + materials
This is a really pretty summer tee that has just enough detailing and ruching (a large number of increases are introduced in one row, which are then removed by decreases a few rows later - per Wikipedia) to add interest and a bit of a challenge!
For this class you will need:
~ Pattern will be provided
~ Needles: Size 6 (or size needed to obtain gauge) 24” needle.
~ Yarn: Cherub DK or appropriate DK weight yarn – Kathy used 5 skeins for her Tee.

Braver Knitters
With Zoe
Saturdays May 11th & 25th from 10:30am – 12:30pm
Zoe is going to offer up some nifty fixes and some finishing tips that will help make you a braver and more confident knitter. She just spent 3 days learning from Lucy Neatby – designer and teacher extraordinaire and is eager to share what she learned. There is a bit of homework to complete before the class so please read below.
For this class you will need:
~ Four 4”X4” swatches of different light colors (no dark colors please – it’s too hard to see
stitches clearly). Using dk weight cast on 20 sts with a size 5 needle (you should get
around 5 sts to the inch). Using worsted weight cast on 18 sts with a size 7 needle (you
should get around 4.5 sts to the inch).
~ Leave stitches on the needles of two of the swatches.
~ Bring darning needle, scissors, crochet hooks (sizes E&H)

Long-term Project Support Group
With Zoe/Cheryl
This is not a class, but is a gathering time to support each other working through a BIG project – knitting or crocheting. We foresee happy dances, hoots of support and admiration, groans of understanding & projects slowly becoming incredible works of art.
Well, not to put too much pressure, you don’t really have to create something fit only for The Louvre, but we can guarantee that each person will feel lighter, re-inspired and excited that they made this commitment to themselves!
We meet on Sunday afternoons from 2-4pm
This has become a very popular (we have had up to 9 people!) get-together. It really is fun, and you really don’t have to have a gynormous project… Come with any project and you will be welcomed with open arms (needles will be put down first).
So, if you could use the occasional kick in the patootie, please come!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And don’t forget our Friday Night Knitting Club every Friday night from 6-8pm. We have a stable core of folks who come just about every week, and we love to have new folks pop in – you never know what the “topic of the week” will be! It’s a great way to finish off your week and to start your weekend!
